Has NSW Become Too Safe?

Tyler Brule, a journalist and publisher from Canada, has made a scathing attack on “the nanny state” during his visit to the Vivid Festival on Sydney’s foreshore. Referring to our preoccupation for work place health and safety he said there will be a collapse of commonsense if health and safety wins out in every single discussion and said Australia is at risk of becoming the dumbest nation on earth. Brule said that foreigners regard this as a nanny state and a place where they have to pick up a hi-vis vest and hard hat along with their visa before travelling here! Coincidentally an opinion poll on the topic was published at the same time and it revealed that 75% of respondents believe NSW has become a boring nanny state.
