According to the latest New Zealand Manufacturers and Exporters Association (NZME) survey of business conditions things are looking good across the ditch with a ranking at 107.33 (above 100 = expansion). 2015 was a solid year and was their most positive result since 2004. Export of electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing improved 11.5% year on year while logs, wood, and wood article manufacturing increased 13.8% year on year. 40% of manufactured exports go to Australia.
“We find manufacturers are saying they have a bit of breathing room to employ more staff, but also to be able to invest. That’s the critical thing because to survive in the medium to long term, manufacturers need to automate more, and to update their machinery.”
