Trademark Beware

It appears that a coin minted to mark the centenary of the Gallipoli landing 100 years ago will not go into circulation because it bears two elements protected by trademark. The “rising sun” logo and the word ANZAC which appear on the coin are protected by the Department of Defence and Department of Veterans Affairs respectively. It is illegal to use them without permission from the two departments. The penalty for using the word ANZAC without permission can be a high as a $51,000 fine.
